Victoria Baca Prosecution Update

The court on September 11th shot down the demurrer filed on behalf of Victoria Baca, setting in motion a jury trial to decide her fate.Other actions on that date included
the granted request by the district attorney’s office to have sealed, all police reports connected to the arrest and subsequent investigations into Victoria Baca, and the incident which took place between her and the Moreno Valley police department. Her actions on that night led to her arrest and subsequent filing of charges of willfully resisting, delaying and or obstructing an officer in the performance of their duties. At the pace in which this is moving, it would appear that soon the cost will outweigh the charges filed, leaded to a dismissal of the case in best interest of justice. However the puzzling part of this case is the sealing of the police reports, and to whom this action is meant to serve.
Is the district attorney protecting law enforcement, or an elected official from public scrutiny?
I call on the Press Enterprise to look into this issue, and use their powers of the press to seek these documents be made public. We have a right to know what is contained in such documents, provided that their public disclosure doesn’t interfere with the issue before the court, or privacy of the officers involved.
